Knowledge base Dial up
We provide a dialup internet service. This allows access to the internet using a conventional modem. We make no charge for dialup, but your telephone provider is likely to charge you for the call to an 0845 number.
Numbers
The dialup number for ISDN access is 0845 080 4469
The dialup number for modem (up to 56K) access is 0845 080 4464
Login detail
We can provide a specific dialup login for you. You can also use your normal ADSL login - taking over your normal ADSL IP addresses if your ADSL line is down. This is useful as a backup. In order to use dialup using your ADSL login, you need to set your existing IP addresses to include option 'D' for Dialup. This is set on the ADSL Control Pages, but do contact support if you need any help setting it up (it doesn't matter which row you tick 'D' on; if the line's down it should still work).
As dialup via ADSL login is for backup purposes only, your ADSL does need to be offline before it will work. If you want to use dialup at the same time as ADSL, you'll need a dialup specific login.
If using a login in the form something@a.1 for ADSL, you need to drop the .1 suffix for dialup. So, just use something@a
IP addressing
Our dialup services are fixed IP only, and can have a block of IP addresses if required, including IPv6.
